Hospitals/Inpatient Care
Hospitals encounter neurological cases daily and we all agree that access to diagnostic data and time to diagnosis is critical. For many hospitals, EEG is not readily available.
In these cases, patients have to be transferred to another hospital for an EEG. During that process (which can take hours or even days) crucial diagnostic time is lost, especially in the life-threatening case of status epilepticus.
Additionally, there is often a high monetary cost associated with the transfer, and the patient ends up often far away from their home at the time of discharge.
Clinics/Outpatient Care
Outpatient clinics across many specialities will encounter neurological complaints of seizures, abnormal movements, and altered mental status, to name a few. These patients often benefit from EEG testing.
Typically, a clinic has to send the patient to another facility for the EEG which means another appointment to schedule, and more intake paperwork for the patient as well as loss of control of the patient experience as the patient is now in the hands of another system and at the mercy of their schedule.
Often it can take weeks to months to have an EEG performed at outside facilities and there are sometimes problems obtaining the interpretation from these facilities. Additionally, the outside facility is billing for these services and the patient may end up staying in their system.
Remote EEG allows you to offer in house EEG services with expert interpretation. You will earn reimbursement on the studies and work directly with the interpreting Northstar Neurologists for timely reads and excellent communication.
