Dr. Thomas Pitts, MD
Founder & CEO, North Star TeleEEG
Dr. Thomas Pitts is a board-certified neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist with extensive experience in inpatient neurology, continuous EEG monitoring, epilepsy diagnostics, stroke care, and tele-neurology services.
He completed his Neurology Residency at Wright State University, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at Columbia University / NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Pitts is board-certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology and has interpreted thousands of EEG studies across a wide range of clinical settings, including community hospitals, tertiary care centers, intensive care units, emergency departments, and outpatient neurodiagnostic programs.
Throughout his career, he has worked closely with hospitals facing challenges related to neurologist shortages, EEG coverage gaps, after-hours interpretation needs, and continuous EEG program development. These experiences ultimately led to the creation of North Star TeleEEG.
His vision for North Star is simple:
Provide hospitals with immediate access to fellowship-trained EEG expertise without the cost, complexity, and recruitment challenges associated with building and maintaining an in-house EEG interpretation program.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Pitts has served as a national medical media contributor and has been featured by major news and health organizations discussing neurology, neuroscience, and emerging medical topics.
Today, he continues to practice as a neurologist while leading North Star TeleEEG's mission of helping hospitals expand access to high-quality neurodiagnostic care.
